The Dordogne and Lot Rivers

Villefranche is roughly half way between these two major rivers, in one of the most beautiful areas of the whole of France. We have been exploring the region thoroughly - here is a selection of river scenes.

The Lot

040b (640x480) Albas 163b (1024x656) 023b (640x469) Puy l’Evêque
026b (640x427)
Fumel

175b (640x427) Houses by the Lot near St-Cirq Lapopie …

172b (427x640) … & the cliffs they live under

The Dordogne – we had a picnic at Beynac 11 years ago and managed to find the exact same spot this time.   Mind you, with a landmark like the castle it wasn’t difficult.  Still a very favourite location.

Beynac Castle and village
131b (640x427)  A modest little cottage nestled in amongst the woods, overlooking the river … aaahhhhh, I can almost hear my paintbrush swishing
